Introduction
In the European Theater, the Quartermaster Graves Registration Service designed and built many temporary and permanent cemeteries for the United States dead. Also, it was not uncommon for the Americans to bury other Allied and enemy dead as they came accross while the war was progressing. Both temporary and permanent cemeteries are marked on the map below.
